Planning Your Projects

Basic Geometry

Circles

r = Radius

Area  = Radius x Radius x 3.14

Triangles

Area  = 1/2(Base x Height)
Rectangle

Area  = Length X Width

Stone

Measure the square feet of the area you need to cover. For the lighter weight lava rocks we suggest using 9 pounds per square foot to cover 2 inches deep. On the heavier stone we suggest using 18 pounds per square foot which will cover 2 inches deep.

One ton of lava, haydite or stone bark will cover approximately 222 square feet at 2 inches deep.

One ton of the heavy weight stone will cover approximately 111 square feet at 2 inches deep.

One ton of Brick Chips will cover approximately 154 square feet at 2 inches deep.

Mulch

Use the following calculations for covering with mulch

1 Large Tractor Bucket = Approximately 1 cubic yard

1 cubic yard will cover 324 square feet at 1 inch deep
1 cubic yard will cover 162 square feet at 2 inches deep
1 cubic yard will cover 108 square feet at 3 inches deep
